(Frequently Asked Questions & Answers)
IS MY VEHICLE INSURED?
Your vehicle will be insured against damage caused by mishandling by the carrier, carrier
negligence, or equipment failure by the auto shipping company. By law, these auto shipping
and car transport trucks carry a minimum of $750,000 liability insurance. Atlas Auto
Relocation is an auto relocation broker that uses qualified carriers across the United States. If
necessary, the insurance deductible is paid by the independent contractor, not Atlas Auto
Relocation. If damage is incurred Atlas Auto Relocation will act as liaison during the claim
settlement process.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Shipping time all depends on the transporter.  All pickup times, transport times, and dates
quoted are simply averages.  South to the North can take approximately 5 to 8 days, East
Coast to West Coast approximately 7 to 14 days and the Midwest to East Coast approximately
5 to 8 days. Each load is different depending on the auto shipping company and their truck's
schedule. Delivery times can vary depending on the miles between the origin and destination,
the scheduling of car carriers in your area, and the number of other cars being delivered by
the same carrier. Also weather and unforeseeable events such as traffic accidents and carrier
break downs can cause a fluctuation in delivery times.

DO I HAVE TO BE PRESENT?
Yes. You or someone you designate as your agent must be present at the pickup and delivery
of your vehicle. Paperwork must be completed and signed at both the pickup and delivery.
The carrier will contact you with pickup and delivery times so you can arrange your schedule
accordingly.

CAN I PUT PERSONAL BELONGINGS IN THE VEHICLE?
Atlas Auto Relocation does not permit transporting personal belongings in the vehicle. Auto
transporters are not required to have household goods transportation licenses and they can
be fined up to $10,000 per occurrence for violating this federal law. Also, goods transported in
the vehicle are not guaranteed or insured. Firearms, illegal substances, contraband and/or
hazardous materials are absolutely not allowed in the vehicle.

WHAT DO I DO IF MY VEHICLE GETS DAMAGED?
If damage is found on the vehicle that was not noted at the time of pick up please clearly note
this on the driver’s bill of lading. Make sure you and the driver sign the bill of lading noting the
damage and that you both receive a copy. Contact Atlas Auto Relocation as soon as possible
and inform us of the damage. We will assist you in the claims process and make every effort
to resolve the issue.

HOW DO I PREPARE MY VEHICLE FOR TRANSPORT?
To prepare your vehicle for transport any and all loose, fragile or protruding parts or
accessories should be removed or secured. This includes low hanging spoilers, ground
effects, fog lamps, wide mirrors, antennas and any boots, bras, caps or any other type of
canvas covering. Any rips or tears on convertible tops should be repaired or secured to
prevent further damage (transporters are not responsible for convertible tops that are worn or
torn). Also, alarm systems MUST be disengaged before the transporter arrives.

HOW DOES AUTO TRANSPORT WORK?
The auto transport process is fairly simple. You will be contacted by the driver to arrange your
pick up time 10-24 hours in advance. When the driver arrives a “Bill of Lading” or inspection
sheet will be completed noting existing damages and mileage on the vehicle.  You and the
driver sign the Bill of Lading at pick up and the same process is repeated upon delivery.

WHY USE A BROKER TO MOVE MY VEHICLE?
Many wonder why not just go directly to the trucking company to have their vehicle moved.
First, most trucking companies run dedicated routes and may have difficulty picking up your
vehicle in a timely manner. Secondly, using a broker guarantees your car is transported by a
licensed and properly insured auto transport company. Third, a broker is bonded and has
access to many reputable companies. If the trucking company you contact directly cannot get
the car themselves they may contract another carrier and you may be left not knowing who
has your vehicle. Also, you may not have a secure contact to inform you of your vehicle status.

WHAT IS DOOR-TO-DOOR?
“Door to door” means the transporter will get as close to your pickup and delivery location as
possible. There cannot be any low hanging trees, low bridges or congested traffic areas that
inhibit or endanger the transporter, others or your vehicle. If these conditions exist,
arrangements to meet at a safe and practical location should be made.
